I saw a bright light and a lovely picture of geraniums
Posted by Helen Noir on September 24th, 2008 filed in UncategorizedDo out-of-body experiences really happen? 25 UK & US hospitals are taking part in an experiment designed to prove that they do and that the 10% of resuscitated patients who report the now familiar bright light/tunnel-travelling/staff-working-on-their-lifeless-body scenario are describing an actual event. Many doctors believe near death recollections are false memories caused somehow by the trauma of, well, near death and this experiment hopes to demonstrate otherwise by the simple device of placing postcards on very high shelves in trauma rooms. The theory is that if a patient can accurately describe the postcards they must actually have been floating around on the ceiling.
I like the lo-fi simplicity of this test, but I’m thinking maybe the near dead aren’t going to be focusing on décor as they hang between worlds.
