My favourite new compilation.
bang-your-party
I missed this when it came out late last year as Juno had unhelpfully listed it under ‘progressive house’ but there are supercool tracks here from JD Braithwaite (‘Give Me The Night’ remixed by Deep Dish) and Lenny Fontana (‘Dream of Life’) as well as a whole load of cuts from the fantastic Giorgio Moroder Remix Project, including reworkings of a pre-Irene Cara ‘Flashdance’ (Ralf GUM mix) and a pre-Debbie Harry ‘Call Me’ (Todd Terry vs Jill Jones mix). This is a dance music history lesson. I particularly love Jam & Spoon’s gorgeous remix of ‘The Chase’, with amazing vocals from MC Kinky, and Farley Jackmaster Funk’s take on ‘I Wanna Rock You’ with its ridiculous gospel lyrics and electro bassline.
Everthing I want right now.
